Budleigh Salterton is at the mouth of the River Otter which is a sanctuary for rare birds and wildlife. Our advice is to take the river path to Otterton where you can enjoy a morning coffee or delicious lunch at 'Otterton Mill' with its craft centre and bespoke shops selling Devon produce, arts and crafts.

The historic cathedral city of Exeter is a short drive away, as is the fine regency town of Sidmouth and the miles of sandy beaches at Exmouth are just round the corner. A special favourite of ours is the little town of Topsham, steeped in history and full of shops to browse in, along with an RSPB reserve on the banks of the River Exe.

Devon has many fine National Trust houses and gardens along with many miles of National Trust coastline all guaranteed to make an excellent 'day out' if visited and, of course, has the rugged splendour of Dartmoor National Park to explore.
